About The Event
Join the Sebasticook Regional Land Trust on a paddling trip around the Pleasant Lake Preserve in Stetson. Gifted to SRLT in 2010 by Kent Hewitt, “the Cape” of 3-mile long Pleasant Lake offers a well-maintainted trail system, wonderful bird-watching opportunities, and exploration of diverse woodland and shoreline habitats. Co-led by Pittsfield resident and avid water recreationist Bill Cunnignham and Cheryl Daigle, SRLT executive director.
We will leave the Stetson Boat Launch at 10 AM and stop for a short trail exploration and introduction to Pleasant Lake Preserve. We will conitnue paddling around the Cape to Stetson Campground for a lunch break, then proceed along the shoreline back to the Boat Launch. The length of the paddle depends on group interest, but we anticipate a 4-hour excursion. Picnic tables and restrooms are available at the Campground for our lunch break. There are no restrooms at the boat launch.
Directions to the Stetson Boat Launch: Take Exit 167 from I-95 and continue North on Route 143 (Dixmont Road, turns into Lakins Rd. in Stetson) for about 7.5 miles, then turn right onto Town Boat Launch Road marked by a very small sign. There is plenty of parking and a concrete boat launch ramp near a small dam. Cancellation Info: If the paddling trip has to be cancelled due to bad weather, everyone signed up for it will be notified via email by Friday evening or before.
